Building Bridges Through Dialogue
Connecting people, cultures and faiths
Forum Dialog Mitteldeutschland is committed to fostering mutual understanding, respect and peaceful coexistence among people of different cultural, religious and social backgrounds.
With a presence in Leipzig since 2015 and Dresden since 2018, Forum Dialog brings people together through interfaith encounters, cultural events, educational initiatives and open conversations.
By creating spaces for personal exchange and shared experiences, the organisation encourages trust, strengthens social cohesion and helps overcome prejudice.
As a founding partner of the European Peace Network, Forum Dialog Mitteldeutschland contributes its experience in intercultural dialogue and its connections with communities and organisations across Europe.
Dialogue in Practice
Turning encounters into understanding
Forum Dialog Mitteldeutschland brings its commitment to dialogue to life through a wide range of activities and partnerships.
Interfaith gatherings, shared celebrations, cultural events and educational programmes create opportunities for people of different religious and cultural backgrounds to meet, exchange perspectives and discover common values.
In Leipzig and Dresden, Forum Dialog has worked with Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities, cultural institutions and civil society organisations. Its activities include interfaith gatherings during Ramadan, public discussions on religious diversity and collaborative cultural projects.
One example is the Leipzig initiative “Garden of Religions – Stage of Cultures”, which brought different religious communities together through cultural exchange and shared experiences.
These encounters demonstrate that peaceful coexistence grows through personal relationships, mutual respect and a willingness to listen.
A Partnership for Peace
Forum Dialog Mitteldeutschland and BIRD e.V.
The European Peace Network is a joint initiative of Forum Dialog Mitteldeutschland and BIRD – Bündnis Interreligiöses Deutschland e.V.
Both organisations share the conviction that lasting peace begins with personal encounters, mutual understanding and respect across religious and cultural boundaries.
While Forum Dialog contributes its experience in intercultural dialogue and its network of community partners, BIRD brings its long-standing commitment to interreligious cooperation through music, particularly through Ensemble Coexist.
Together, the two organisations aim to combine the power of music with the power of dialogue, creating opportunities for meaningful encounters across Europe.
Their shared vision is to build a sustainable network in which local communities, cultural institutions and people of different faiths work together for peaceful coexistence.
Building Bridges Across Europe
Building Bridges Across Europe
From local encounters to a European network
Building on years of dialogue and cooperation in Germany, Forum Dialog Mitteldeutschland is helping to develop new connections between religious communities, cultural organisations and civil society partners across Europe.
Through the European Peace Network, these relationships can grow into lasting partnerships, bringing together people who might otherwise never meet.
Beginning in 2028, the initiative aims to organise a series of concerts, interfaith encounters and dialogue events in European cities, with Ensemble Coexist providing a shared musical foundation.
Local partners will play an essential role in shaping these encounters, contributing their own perspectives, experiences and traditions.
Our common goal is not simply to organise concerts, but to create connections that endure beyond the events themselves.
